|

|
2 |
A range of Fairtrade products are sold in about 30 shops
(target was 16)
and
in 10 cafés and catering establishments.(target
was 8)
We have exceeded the
targets
[but we'd really like
more cafes, pubs and restaurants tojoin in].
|
|
|
3 |
A number of local work places and community organisations use
Fairtrade products.
[Most Churches do and a few
schools, voluntary organisations and businesses
but
would be good to have lots more] |
|
4 |
Fairtrade activities attract media coverage and popular support
[plenty
but
always room for more]
|
|
5 |
Ensure continued commitment to Fairtrade borough status.
[we
have a great team
but would welcome more people particularly from
Lee-on-the-Solent and Rowner/ Bridgemary] |

St
John's Primary School did
a Fairtrade Project from September to October,07. They borrowed the
GFA
exhibition
and had a GFA speaker. The pupils work was outstanding from T
shirts decorated with
a Fairtrade theme to persuasive letters explaining
the benefits of Fairtrade to the School Staff. Their
campaign worked; the
staff voted overwhelmingly to become a Fairtrade Staff Room. Well done,
all of you.

The Council Chamber was full with over sixty people. They heard

for producers and consumers. |

Simeon Greene of
Windward Bananas showed how Fairtrade had saved the banana industry in
the Windward Islands and how producers and their communities now
thrive and develop. |
|

fairtrade
Mark guarantees and what was involved in becoming a Fairtrade town |

Tree planting in
Falkland Gardens
The Mayor of Gosport, Councillor Keith
Gill, joined members of GFA to plant a tree to commemorate the award
of Fairtrade Borough Status to Gosport in 2008.
The growing tree symbolises both the
continuing growth of Fairtrade in Gosport and the way in which Fairtrade
enables Fairtrade producers and their families and communities to grow
healthily and sustainably as Fairtrade pays them prices that cover their
cost and encourage more organic production methods. |
