Oxfam – Portsmouth Action Group

Oxfam works with others to find lasting solutions to poverty and suffering.

The action group in Portsmouth meets monthly and these are examples of what we do::

Campaign on Trade Justice The group is actively supporting the Trade Justice Movement and recently has been involved with a variety of trade linked work: Stalls to promote Fairtrade products Letter-writing on trade issues Supporting Oxfam’s campaign on Coffee www.maketradefair.org Displays on Fairtrade in the Central Library Distributing information to supporters.
Raise funds for Oxfam We’re also regularly involved with fund-raising – for instance we organise a huge sponsored walk each October – the South Downs Safari
Campaign: on issues like: fair trade, debt cancellation and education for all. We’re also working on controlling the sale of arms. If you’d like more information check out Control Arms on the Oxfam website
