The World Development Movement

WDM symbol

The Portsmouth World Development Group has been active since the early 1970s.

This year we've been campaigning on  Aid, especially with regard to water, Trade Justice and Debt relief.

In 2007  our campaigns include  Climate Change especially with relation to justice for poorer countries who will be most affected but make the smallest contribution to global warming.

We meet  on the second Monday of each month at 7.30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Bransbury road, Eastney.  New members are always welcome.

[This December's meeting on the 11th will be a social gathering at 'The Thatched  House' public house on Locksway Road]

‘Justice for the World’s Poor’

The aim of the group is to campaign for Justice:

We look through mailings from WDM, hear report backs from conferences and meetings, discuss issues like trade and debt and then write letters to Ministers, MPs and other decision-makers.

We help organise post-card campaigns on issues like trade and debt.

We organise public events like two recent meetings on Trade issues and occasional conferences.

We produce a newsletter every two months.
